Centerra Cooperative Names Josh Hilbrands President & CEO
Centerra Cooperative's Board of Directors has unanimously selected Josh Hilbrands as the cooperative's next President & Chief Executive Officer following a comprehensive national search. Hilbrands will officially begin his role on September 1, 2026.
According to Board Chairman John Shymanski, Hilbrands stood out for his extensive cooperative leadership experience, strategic vision, and commitment to serving members while building strong teams and lasting relationships.
"Throughout the search process, Josh demonstrated the leadership, values, and business acumen that our Board believes will position Centerra for continued success," said Shymanski. "We are confident he is the right leader to build upon Centerra's strong foundation and guide our cooperative into the future."
Hilbrands brings years of experience leading agricultural cooperatives through growth while maintaining a strong focus on members, customers and employees.
The announcement also marks the beginning of the final chapter in the career of current President & CEO Jean Bratton, who will work alongside Hilbrands during a brief transition before retiring in September.
"Jean has provided outstanding leadership throughout her career at Centerra," Shymanski said. "Her dedication to our members, employees, and the communities we serve has left a lasting impact on this cooperative. We are incredibly grateful for her many years of service and wish her the very best in her well-earned retirement."
As he begins his new role, Hilbrands plans to spend his first several weeks visiting Centerra locations, meeting employees, listening to members, and learning more about the cooperative's operations before making significant decisions.
Centerra's Board of Directors looks forward to introducing Hilbrands to members, customers and employees throughout the coming weeks.
